RtI and Progress Monitoring, K-3

“Cool Tools”  Informal Reading Assessments  (Found through the Ohio Resource Center)

Created by the Florida Department of Education, this document contains many assessment types and formats for progress monitoring in the five areas of reading development:  phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.

For the purposes of data collection and progress monitoring at the younger grades, the assessment tools in this document would be incredibly beneficial.  Resources specifically for the purpose of RtI screening and monitoring sometimes seem scarce or too costly for many districts.  A free option such as this would have been an excellent resource to my previous district when we were trying to create progress monitoring tools from scratch.  Combine the assessment data with a tracking sheet for students receiving Tier 1 and 2 interventions for a way to ensure academic growth between screenings.
